I met a wonderful man, Jim. He's a fireman over in Belleville, Ill. I was going through a breakup of my previous Yahoo! relationship. Jim had contacted me previously and I saw him online and we exchanged IMs with each other for three and a half hours. We agreed to meet two days later -- the day after Thanksgiving for lunch.

Jim and I enjoyed each other's company over lunch. It was a beautiful day outside so we drove to a park and walked around getting to know each other better. I broke all the rules of Internet dating; I invited him back to my apartment. We talked some more -- he massaged my feet and we just clicked. We shared our first kiss on our first date. It was so tender and genuine.

We saw each other again twice that weekend. As we got to spend more time together I have really started to fall head over heels in love with the man.

Success tips from Debbie

• Trust your instinct when seeking out or receiving emails on profiles.
• Be open to taking or placing a phone call yourself after just contacting someone.
• Be courteous, even if you've met someone else, respond to the emails you receive. The men with whom I exchanged IMs or chatted with were great guys, I just happened to get very lucky and "clicked" with one of them I had just met after a couple of IM conversations.
• Don't be shy. If you see a guy you like on Yahoo! Personals -- go for it! If that one doesn't work out, don't hesitate to contact someone who had previously contacted you as I did. Jim was there when I needed him online with my first breakup and we exchanged IMs with each other.
• Never give up! Love is out there for you.
